Stargate: Timelines
*cough I suck at casting cough* Anyway...this is for the Create your own Sci-fi Show challenge over at
scifiland . Even those of you on my flist who don't watch Stargate might like it...I dunno. It is a scifi show!
I was going to use my old Stargate: Universes(Yes, that was the name. Hush) idea, but since Universe came out last year, now it looks like I copied Universe, so I can't use it. Meh.
I think this was born of too little sleep and too much Doctor Who. Stargate fans, please don't kill me.

Stargate: Timelines
In 2011, SG-17 walked across the event horizon of an off-world Stargate, and disappeared. The whole team was declared missing in action, and eventually forgotten under the weight of growing threats and new enemies. Fast-forward to 2030, when the Stargate program has been declassified and Earth is now a major player in the galaxy. Technology has advanced enormously, due in great part to the knowledge of the Asguard. Cue the Stargate activating and SG-17 arriving, nearly twenty years after their time. Realizing where and when they are, they try to puzzle out a way home, with the help of the Guardians; people who travel though time using the Stargate and attempt to set timelines straight.
But this world is not the one they left, and there are many people who don’t want SG-17 going anywhere; the corrupt government that wants them to stay, because now their field experience is required to train the next generation of personnel; and the Protectors who forbid tampering with time. Even the Guardians don’t have pure intentions. In a world where everything is a fight to survive, how will they ever make it home?

Major Elaine Wilder (Freema Agyeman)
She is the impromptu leader of SG-17, since the team’s original leader, Colonel Brian Ingram died during their hostile retreat from P37-320. Thrust into a role she was not prepared for, she is forced to cope the best she can with what she has. She is a natural born leader with a fighting spirit, but often she doesn’t quite know how to trust people. This isn’t a bad thing in this world, though, because everyone has it out for the new arrivals. Her biggest motivation for returning home is her family and the life she has planned after the military.

Captain Jeremy Pierce (Phillip Winchester)
Out of the entire team, he is the only one who has no pressing desire to return home. He enjoys this time, and if it were up to him he’d stay, but he knows that he can’t stay without risking his life. He cares about his team, but nothing of his life and past outside of the Stargate Program is known. He had a tense relationship with the original team leader, Brian Ingram, and it’s possible that the late Colonel knew about his personal past. Elaine is the leader of the team, but he has at least as much experience as her, if not more. He’s a good guy, but is often rather indifferent to his circumstances.

Doctor Henry Lewis (Rupert Young)
Is a medical doctor; he was assigned to SG-17 during the relief mission to P37-320, and feels responsible for the loss of teammates Tyler Moore and Brian Ingram during their escape from the rebels. When they arrive in 2030 he adapts quickly, despite the fact that medicine is almost non-existent in this time. He’s curious about this time, but knows that asking wouldn’t be the best idea; he knows too much about the plots of science fiction media to risk it. He’s an intimidating presence in any room, but really he’s got a heart of gold. Little does he know that he will have to toughen up to survive the enemies that his team has made.

Sara Robbins (Agam Darshi)
Is SG-17’s Guardian liaison. She is in charge of making sure they don’t ask stupid questions and never wander off. They really don’t listen to her, but somehow she still manages to maintain some pretense of control over them. And expert in traveling backwards in time, Sara is the one who works with Elaine and Jeremy to figure out when and where exactly they can find a way home. She sees the arrival of SG-17 as a respite and possible escape from her essential desk job. If she can get them home successfully, then there’s a promotion to field agent in her future.

Scarlet Owens (Michelle Ryans)
Leads the Government squad tasked with recovering SG-17 so their memories can be harvested to give field experience to new SG teams. The current personnel all share the same memories, and the number of field experiences are dwindling, so new blood is needed, and fast. She whole-heartedly believes in finding this team so their memories can be stripped and implanted into new people. Scarlet herself has the experiences of several others in her mind. However, as the manhunt stretches across the planet and onto others, she begins to doubt her mission. And when she is ordered to execute her 2IC for aiding the Guardians, she can’t do it, so she finds herself on the run from the Government
