Basically this is me making sure the crossposting between LJ and Dreamwidth is working, since I'm seriously considering starting to do all my posting over here and just crosspost to LJ. I've also gotten started on importing all my LJ stuff into my Dreamwidth as a backup.

Yesssss XD I never used the subject lines much, but now, I miss them, like, a lot.
It's super simple! The only thing I miss is the tagging interface, but, hey, I don't mind manual tagging.

I wish the mods for, like, blindfold and sharp_teeth and things would make mirrors over here, but that's gotta be a hell of an import...

Oh my gosh, you're right. That's a hell of a blow to pretty much any commentfic group on LJ, and I hadn't even thought about it. They just keep getting fucked over :/

It's very, very similar to LJ. It was based off of a copy of LJ's scripts and has grown in a relatively similar pattern to LJ. However, it's entirely user-focused and remains dedicated to what the users want and need vs. business. LJ is based in Russia and they are a money-making enterprise; to that end, they've laid off US staff, been subject to Russian internet blocking, and have been forced to put up adds and aggressively sell paid accounts. Then there's the ToS that nobody reads but that could shut down pretty much any LJ account if they went through and actually scoured for 'em.
Dreamwidth is ad-free, user-based, connects pretty seamlessly to LJ, and has a strong policy of putting users first. They're similar to AO3 in their devotion to the userbase.

Anyways. I like it, a lot. The only downside is that plenty of people don't want to move or copy their journals over there, and a lot of fandom remains on LJ. So there is that to consider if you're looking at moving...but at the very least, you can use it as a back-up for your current lj if you care enough.

For a lot of LJ users...it's kinda sticking it to the man. LJ doesn't give a damn about the users, and joining DW is one way to show them that we do care enough too jump ship.
