I kinda miss those days. Memes were fun! Anyways, this one is curtsey of [livejournal.com profile] freaksoldier.

1. Leave me a comment saying "Gateship One is Go".
2. I'll respond by asking you five questions of a very intimate and creepily personal nature (or not).
3. Update your journal with the answers to the questions.
4. Include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, ask them five questions.

My questions from her: )

I was supposed to have basketball today, but I woke up at seven feeling so miserable from a sore throat and a lack of sleep from how hard I've been pushing with school lately that I just made the executive decision not to go.

Also, most likely [livejournal.com profile] scifibigbang, too, as an artist, of course. I need a lot more practice and plot ideas before I try writing a BB.

So, got up off my rear and watched Elf. So many hearts in my eyes. I think I know why everyone loves it so much. It' just so...squishable! Squishy! /wanders into Nemo
Also, apparently [personal profile] lunasky3 and I have determined there needs to be an SPN/Elf fusion with Cas as Buddy and Heaven as the North Pole.

Stargate's on TV now, and oh, S1 SGA, I have missed you muchly. Remember when Teyla was kickass and had long pink hair and fought a Wraith with nothing but a giant stick?
Yeah. You may have lost it amongst the later seasons.

Which reminds me of something I realized a long time ago. I think I've figured out why John/Elizabeth was always more popular in (the het side of) fandom than anything else, by miles. It's pretty much known by everyone that you automatically pick out your two favorite characters and start shipping them. That's kinda the way fans work. I always wondered why Sparky had such a large part of fandom, while the number of people who frequented the Jeyla thread were few but loyal. Admittedly, I didn't really start participating in fandom 'till the show was in the third season, so I don't know how it was in the beginning, before Elizabeth became a saint (which takes me on another tangent; why was it that everyone seemed to either love Elizabeth and hate Teyla or love Teyla and hate Elizabeth? I always thought they were both awesome and kickass in their own ways...). But when I was in fandom, I always got the feeling that Teyla was the least-favorite regular character in the show. I can forgive them for thinking that with the sad writing she got later on, but in the beginning, she was awesome. Anyways, the point is, I always thought that Elizabeth was miles more popular than Teyla, which is why the more canon ship(John/Teyla) was less popular than the kinda unrealistic(from a canon fulfillment point of view) ship(John/Elizabeth). I won't get into fandom's reasons for not liking Teyla, though I can guess at them (in a fandom compromised of largely slashers, Teyla was the main female threat to the OTP...Teyla was a kickass(physically in addition to mentally) strong female...you get the picture. Why are women so hated in SPN?).
I don't know. For the, like, three of you who have any familiarity with SGA fandom, what were/are your thoughts?

In the interest of full disclosure, I've always been a John/Teyla shipper. Never genuinely got John/Elizabeth, to be honest. John/Teyla was the only thing that ever made sense in canon and out of it. *shrugs*

Also, this kinda turned into a rantish thing. Why does everything turn into that?

→Ugh. LJ! You're not sending my notices, again! How am I supposed to know if any of my VERY IMPORTANT COMMENT THREADS are being updated?

→Got my christmas card from [livejournal.com profile] yappichick! 'S very pretty and thoughtful; thank you, bb! My brother got it and thought it was a birthday card, since I've been getting those pretty much all week, but I corrected him when I got up. I showed to it Mum, and she was quite enamored with it, especially when I explained that it was from a friend of mine from SGA, she was all "...wow, you guys must have met a long time ago!" (I neglected to mention that I even remember the old John/Teyla threads from GW that I lurked on and got to know everyone on long before I got LJ, because that was even longer ago).
Made me have a moment of "Holy smokes, I've been in fandom for a fourth of my life, pretty much." Which made me feel both old and young. And also kinda gave me the urge to go and delete anything from before 2008, because who really likes the random thoughts of a teenager? And the fanfic. Oh my god. I can't read any of that stuff. It scares me.

→I also can't believe I've only been on LJ for two years. It feels like so much longer, because of all the lurking I did long before I signed up. That, and the fact that I started on forums rather than LJ, and so I didn't get here 'till after I left forums. But really. The people I've gotten to know, the friends I've made, the ups and down that I've been through with y'all; the shows that I've found and loved and lost...
Basically; akl;dfghjgfijkl I LOVE EVERYONE.

→I really, really love Mission: Impossible 3. Me and the brother had a marathon of the three movies the other day, and I, of course, loved the movies, because I'm an action/adventure junkie with a love of spy movies. But my real great love for M:I3 isn't so much the typical stuff; my favorite thing was the direction and cinematography. For an action/thriller, it was gorgeously shot, IMHO. The colors were all rich in the right spots and washed out in all the right ones; the tones(blue and green and steel-gray vs. red and yellow and orange and brown) matched the actual tones of scenes, the camera was steady and locked-off when the tone called for it, and jittery and handheld when that was needed, too. It doesn't hurt that Tom Cruise was fantastic, either. The whole thing was just amazing, both in writing and directing. I think it helped cement JJ Abrams as one of my favorite directors, ever.
/fangirls

→Oh, something I got a kick out of; Stanford sent me a letter inviting me to apply for their High School Summer College. Basically it was along the lines of "You're smart, apparently, since you score high marks on standardized testing; would you like to come to school here next summer?"
On one hand, holy smokes, if I didn't have to think about anything else, I'd snap that sucker up in a heartbeat. But on the other hand, that's an eight-week program, which would keep me from doing my aerospace scholars program AND the summer seminar at the Academy. And I would have to find a way to get to Cali and some kind of arrangement to stay there. So basically, they got me all excited and then I realized it wouldn't be feasible. So I'm adding it to the stack of letters from places I'd like to go, like Embry-Riddle.
Responsible choices are so annoying.

GISHWHES is official over. And I think I can safely say; Damn, that was intense. But also fun and also amazing. It didn't go according to anyone's plan, but it was a wild ride. I can't wait for next year!

As a bonus; who follows Misha and saw the tweet about the runaway Christmas tree? GISHWHES sorta indirectly-ish made the news! Any of my flist-ers teams try that one? How did it go?
I also wonder if the youtube video of them doing it counts, or if Misha's gonna be mean this time?

ETA: Wow, for those who don't have paid accounts, are the ads always this...off-putting? Mine expired last night, but I've managed to threaten/coerce/beg people into renewing it in the past, so it's been a while since I was without. Also omg, my icons, they are gone *dies*

Seriously. Nothing gets you over the angst of certain shows better than flailing and making a new friend and just generally being a fangirl over your first show. And it's awesome, because it's like Stargate never ended.

This post has been brought to you by sappy!Grace.

I'm hooked on Psych. It's so awesome. Watched the pilot and first couple of episodes last night, and they were fantastic. It's just the right balance between hilarious and ridiculous and awesome. :D

Anddd...I dl'd the episodes of Sanctuary I haven't seen this season. Apparently Tesla's in one, and I kinda like being all caught up, even if I'm not at all as into it as I was.

Finally! There is some absolutely fantastic meta and talk over here about Supernatural 708. If you're into objectively examining fandom or offering your opinions on it, gooooo check it out. The original post does a pretty good job of laying out the situation and asking questions that cut pretty well to the heart of fandom's issues with what happened. And the variety of responses is fascinating from an observational point of view. fandom can have an active discussion without falling apart into ugliness!

In other news; I'm gonna be gone for the next few days, completely. Stuck camping with no technology. See y'all on the flip side!

I just want to sit and LOL at everything Supernatural right now. From tumblr to the comments in the live post at spnparty. Don't get me wrong, I love the show and the fans, but we're absolutely crazy sometimes.
Now I'm gonna go rewatch the episode, because I missed parts while flailing in the livepost. What school?
